Over the weekend an erstwhile buddy of mine back in college invited me to his place. He's now married with two lovable kids and works as a stockbroker. His house speaks for the kind of life he's having, much more his extravagant home theater. He was very kind to let me stay and drool over his cool electronics. He's not anymore the financially-struggling geek, but I can say that some things have not changed at all. He's still the
obsessive-compulsive maniac, control freak that I knew.
Everything in his house seems to have a remote control. Particularly, he has this Logitech Harmony 890 Advanced Universal Remote. It's a silver model with an RF Wireless Extender and a bunch of very cool little IR emitters. It also has a USB cable and setup disc so you can program the components of your remote right from the comfort of your computer. For a moment he reminds of
Adam Sandler from this new movie Click, about a man who discovers a remote control of the universe. If you live in his house, it seems like that everything can come to you in just one click of a button. Maybe the inactive lifestyle is behind the obesity that runs in their family.
