Have you ever wondered where did the
CD player come from? A Dutch physicist named
Klass Compaan gave the idea of a CD player for the use Compact Disc. This idea opened the gateway for more inventions.
In 1970, Philips produced the first ever prototype disc, and in 1978, Philips set a worldwide standard, which eventually accepted by premier technology manufacturers and the members of the Digital Audio Disc Committee in 1980.
To further develop this technology, the companies of Philips and Sony were associated to take the challenges of the developing technology. The progress continued with more added features and modification in sizes and styles of the CD player. Aside from a portable player, a car CD player was also came out to the market. In 1985, computer became the haven for CD disc through a CD-ROM drive. This attracted more and more people to use the technology of CD. The CD-Recordable and Recorder device invaded the market, too, especially those computer fanatic users in 1988.
Today, the production of
DVD player has become the latest development in the digital player technology. And who knows, soon we will hear again another innovation of the CD player idea of Compaan.
